For my late husband,Simon

Sweetheart, have a good trip

I think I know you very well,

I had only had you for seven years.

I know that you could feel,

even at the last minute.

How dramatic the life is

I know, you know

they don’t know

That was you, trying to make the piece of paper flying

telling me you are still here with me.

That was you, making some sound arounding the boat

telling me you still want to be with me.

just like the day we met on the street of New York city.

If life is a kind of trip,

I will join you at the end,

you would like to have a look around first

sweetheart

have a good trip!

Sailing Away

One year at sea today,
We thought we had just come to play,
Not knowing how hard it was to sail away,
We jibe, we tack, we go off track,
We heave on lines galore,
Just when we thought we had done enough,
The Ocean says do more!

A rope gets worn,
A sail gets torn,
There is another to repair,
How many hours a day you mend,
The Ocean does not care!

We watch all night and strain our eyes,
For ships we seldom see,
But when dawn arrives,
And the sun comes up,
You should hear our shouts of glee!

I wrote Sailing Away whilst on watch one night between Galapagos and Easter Islands. This leg of our voyage took us twenty days.
East meets West
I am from the West and you are from the East
When I first saw you my eyes had a feast.
In just a few minutes, in love I fell,
And soon thereafter heard a wedding bell.
I never thought in all my life,
That I would find such a wonderful Wife.
Each day together is exciting and new,
And to ourselves and each other,
We will always be true.
We get younger together,
Whilst most people grow old,
As just like children,
We will never be told!

I devote this poem to my beautiful wife Hong
